Privacy policy
The short version: your artwork, music and videos never leave your device. We have no accounts and we set no cookies of our own. We count how many videos are made, but not who makes them. Google ads and Google Fonts involve Google, as explained below.
Who we are
Custom DJ (“we”, “us”) runs the website customdj.co.uk and the free video makers on it. You can reach us through the contact form, or by email: .
Your files stay on your device
When you add artwork, a logo, a background image or an audio file, your browser reads it on your own computer or phone. Nothing is uploaded to us or to anyone else. The video is also made on your device, and it is only saved if you download it. We can't see, keep or share your files or your videos. If you use the Share button on a phone, your phone's own share menu is used, and we don't see where you send the video.
What we collect
- Nothing about you from the tools. There are no accounts or sign-ups, and you don't need to give us your name or email address to use them. The tools only tell us, anonymously, when a video is made (see Counting videos), and send us your social media names only if you choose to give them (see Re-sharing your video).
- Standard server logs. Like every website, the servers that host this site record basic technical details when a page is requested: your IP address, the date and time, the page or file requested, and your browser and device type. This is used to run the site, keep it secure and fix problems. Our web host keeps these logs for a limited time.
- Messages you send us. If you use the contact form or the feature request form, or email us, we receive what you type: your message, your name and email address if you give them, and the tool you choose. We use it only to reply and to decide what to improve. The forms send your message to us by email through our web host and email provider, and we don't keep a copy on the website. We keep messages for as long as we need to help you, or the law requires.
- Spam protection. To stop bots and misuse, the contact forms, the video counter and the re-share form each make a short-lived record from a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address, so they can limit how often one connection can use them. It can't be turned back into your IP address, and it is deleted within a few hours.
We don't use analytics or tracking tools. The only numbers we keep are the anonymous video counts described below.
Counting videos
To see how the tools are used, we count the videos made with them. When a video is finished, and again if you download or share it, your browser tells our website so. It sends only which tool you used, the video's shape, length, quality and file type, and whether it has music. We add that to a total for the day. It never includes your files, their names, the text you typed or anything else about what is in your video. The request appears in our web host's standard server logs, like any other (see above), but the counts themselves don't include your IP address or anything else that could identify you.
Re-sharing your video
After you download a video, the tool asks if you'd like us to share it on our social media. This is optional: you can ignore it or press “No thanks”. If you fill it in, we receive:
- the Instagram, TikTok or Facebook names you enter
- which tool you used, and the date and time
- that you ticked the box to say we can re-share your video
We don't receive the video itself. We use your account names only to find your public post and, if we choose to, share it with credit to you. They are kept in a private part of our web space that only we can see, and are deleted automatically after 12 months, or sooner if you ask. To have them deleted, or to tell us you no longer want your video shared, use the contact form and choose “A privacy request”. Anything we share is posted on Instagram, Facebook or TikTok, so their own privacy policies apply there.
You can also just tag us when you post: @customdjuk on Instagram and Facebook, and @customdj on TikTok. Nothing is sent to us that way.
Cookies and similar technologies
We don't set any cookies ourselves, and the tools and forms don't store anything in your browser between visits. The only cookies you may meet come from Google when adverts are shown, as described in the next section.
Advertising from Google
Custom DJ is free to use and may show ads provided by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies, or similar technologies such as device identifiers, to show ads and to measure how well they work. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this site or other sites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
In the UK and the European Economic Area we ask for your choice, through a message from Google's consent tool, before ads that use cookies or personal data are shown. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the “Privacy and cookie settings” link that appears at the bottom of our pages while that message is in use, or by clearing the cookies for this site in your browser.
You can control personalised ads in several ways:
- Use Google's Ads Settings to opt out of personalised advertising.
- Use Your Online Choices to opt out of personalised ads from many other advertisers.
- Change the cookie settings in your browser.

Google Fonts
Twenty fonts are built into this site and are served from our own web space, so choosing them sends nothing to Google. If you choose any other font from the Google Fonts list in the font picker, your browser downloads that font from Google's servers (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). Google then receives your IP address and standard browser information, as with any request to its servers. This only happens when you choose one of those fonts.
Other sites and other countries
This site links to other websites, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. Our pages link to our Instagram, Facebook and TikTok accounts. These are ordinary links: nothing is loaded from those sites unless you click one. Some of the companies mentioned above, such as Google, may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they must protect it as the law requires.
Why we are allowed to use your data
Under UK data protection law we rely on our legitimate interests in running and securing the site (server logs and spam protection), in understanding how the tools are used (the anonymous video counts), and in replying to your messages. Keeping your social media names so we can share your video relies on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Cookies used for personalised ads rely on your consent.
Your rights
You have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you and to ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or stop using it. You can also withdraw consent you have given, and where it applies, ask for your data in a portable form. To use any of these rights, use the contact form and choose “A privacy request”, or email us: . If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
Custom DJ is not aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
